Dr. NSD Raju, with all his 35 years of experience in ophthalmic surgery is one of the top anterior segment surgeons in the country. In 1980, Dr. Raju performed the first successful intraocular lens implant in Kerala. He is the first in Kerala to perform microincision cataract surgery. He is one of the few surgeons in the world with a track record of doing 100% of surgeries under topical anesthesia.
Dr. NSD Raju is a pioneer in cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation. He has done more than 50,000 surgical procedures in the past 35 years in ophthalmology. He specializes in complicated cataract surgeries and refractive cataract surgeries. He was the first in the state to do the No injection, No stitch and No patch cataract surgery and currently has the largest series of patients with this procedure. He is also an excellent glaucoma surgeon and an authority in Neurophthalmology. He was trained in anterior segment and refractive surgery by Prof. Akira Mamoose, Japan.
He was the past president of the Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons and the Cochin Ophthalmic Club. He has served as the member of the scientific committee of the All India Ophthalmological Society and was the Editor Proceedings for the society for 2 terms. He currently holds the post of the District Task Force Chairman for the Indian Medical Association. Being an astute clinician, he is one of the most sought after person for conferences and lectures. Dr. NSD is a medical retinal and Laser surgery specialist and had his training from the Wisconsin University, Madison, USA.
