Medical Director and Chief Ophthalmic Surgeon
- Dr. N. S. D. Raju is a pioneer in cataract surgery
with intraocular lens implantation. He has done more
than 50,000 surgical procedures in the past 35 years
in ophthalmology. He was the first in Kerala to successfully
implant an intraocular lens in a human eye in 1980.
He was the first in kerala to perform microincision
cataract surgery. He was the first in the state to do
the No injection, No stitch and No patch cataract surgery
and currently has the largest series of patients with
this procedure. He was the editor proceedings for the
All India Ophthalmological Society from 2000 to 2003
and was the first to bring out the proceedings in a
CD as well as in a DVD format.

Vitreoretinal Surgeon
- Dr. Biju Raju was the first Board Certified vitreoretinal
surgeon from India. He is currently the only vitreoretinal
surgeon performing the most recent bimanual vitrectomy
techniques in the country. He is the first retinal surgeon
to perform sutureless vitrectomy in kerala. In May 2005,
Dr. Biju Raju became the first surgeon in the world
to perform No injection, No stitch and No patch vitrectomy
for retinal diseases. The first series of patients under
topical anesthesia in ophthalmic literature for combined
cataract and retinal surgery, for endophthalmitis and
vitreomacular traction syndromes is from Ranjini Eye
Care. Dr. Biju Raju also became the first vitreoretinal
surgeon from the country to receive the “Best of Show”
award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr.
N. S. D. Raju received this award at the Academy’s annual
meeting at Chicago on October 17th 2005. Dr. Biju Raju
was the only vitreoretinal surgeon from India invited
to attend the recently concluded International Retinal
Education for Accessing Current Techniques (REACT) meeting
at Shanghai, China.

Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Contact Lens Specialist
- Dr. Anju S. Raju practices as a contact lens specialist.
At REC she performs topography guided contact lens fitting
and cosmetic contact lens fitting. Dr. Anju does anterior
segement surgeries and coordinates the activities of
Cochin Eye Foundation. She received her training from
the LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.
