In the year 2004-05 there were 4 scientific publications authored by our doctors in peer-reviewed international ophthalmic journals. The faculty of this hospital presented papers and gave lectures at various conferences including the All India Ophthalmic journals. The faculty of this hospital presented papers and gave lectures at various conferences including All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) annual conference at Bhuvaneswar.

Dr. N.S.D. Raju organized the symposium on ‘What is new in Ophthalmology’ at the Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons – Dhristi 2004 held at Kottayam. The poster presentation – “Pneumatic Desemetopexy” by Dr. N.S.D. Raju won the best poster award at the Dhristi 2004. Dr. Raju also organized the National Symposium on ‘Evidence based Opthalmology at Bhuvaneswar. As the editor-Proceedings Dr. Raju brought out the Proceedings of the AIOS on DVD for the first time in the history of AIOS.

Ranjini Eye Care had a good scientific session at the KSOS annual meeting. Seventeen scientific deliberations were presented at the conference. Nine free papers, 2 video films and 6 scintific posters were presented. Of the 5 awards in the KSOS annual meeting REC bagged 3 – the best free paper, the best video presentation and the best poster. Dr. Biju Raju was a faculty in the diabetic retinopathy and the medical retina sessions. Dr. Biju also presented papers at the Vitreoretinal Society of India’s annual meeting 2004. The paper on central corneal thickness and optical coherence tomography by Dr. Anju S. Raju was the first study of its kind from our country and was accepted well at the KSOS annual meeting.

  7. Intravitreal triamcinolone for macular edema.
  8. Central corneal thickness by optical coherence tomography.
  9. Blue on yellow perimetry in early glaucoma.
  10. Usefulness of OCT in Anterior segment diseases.
  11. Randomized control trial of control of postoperative inflammation using prednisolone acetate and diclofenac sodium.
  12. Randomized control trial of preoperative mydriasis using pledget and drops.
