cenre and hospital situated in Vyttila was inaugurated on
26th Jan 2004 by Dr.B.Ekbal, former vice chancellor Kerala
University.REC has the most advanced equipments and highly
qualified and experienced specialists for performing the
latest and safest procedure in ophthalmic surgery. It is
equipped with the most advanced Phacoemulsifier (Legacy
with Advantek and Neosonix technology) for key hole surgery
for cataract, the Accurus Vitrectomy system for advanced
vitreo retinal Surgery, the Optical Coherence Tomography
for diagnosis and treatment of Retinal disease and Glucoma,
the Octopus 311 perimeter for early diagnosis and treatement
of Glucoma. Corneal topography system for diseases of the
cornea, Low Vision Optical aids for rehabilitation of the
visually handicapped and a community Opthalmic care center-Cochin
Eye Foundation , where free ophthalmic care is provided
to the poorer section of the society.
The purpose of this superspeciality hospital was to provide
the best ophthalmic care at affordable cost. Currently
this hospital can offer the best ophthalmic care at affordable
cost. Currently this hospital can offer the best possible
therapeutic modalities in the ophthalmology available
in the world. The hospital also believes in treating patients
with compassion. The hospital has a strong foothold on
medical ethics and provides evidence based therapeutic
modalities for treating eye diseases.
The Cochin
Eye Foundation has been instituted for extending the services
of the hospital to the poor and needy. The Foundation
has always been in the forefront as far as the community
services are concerned. At present we are proud to state
that we treat patients free of cost from the income generated
bt rhe hospital itself. As an ongoing program, we are
regularly conducting outreach camps and provide service
free of cost to deserving patients and this includes all
the necessary investigations and surgical procedures including
the costlier procedures like vitreoretinal surgeries.
In this endeavor we have been helped by our friends- Mr.Kakkubhai
Bhammer and his group of energetic young volunteers in
the smooth conduct of these camps.
